Amy rushed to hospital

Amy Winehouse was rushed to hospital last night (28.07.08) after collapsing from a suspected drug overdose.
Paramedics spent 40 minutes at her London home after she suffered convulsions, while police were also in attendance to clear waiting paparazzi. Amy was then carried out on a stretcher, covered with a blanket and wearing an oxygen mask. Her father Mitch accompanied her and tried to play down the incident, claiming: 'She’s fine, she just mixed up her medication.' However, a medical source said: 'An ambulance was called to a priority call involving a drugs overdose.' A fan outside the singer’s home, Danny Saunders, is quoted as saying: 'Amy was surrounded by police and wheeled to an ambulance. 'One of my friends said to Amy’s father, 'Will she be all right?’ He said, 'Yes, she’ll be fine’ but he looked upset. 'Amy didn’t make a sound. We’re all really worried.' Mitch later visited Amy at London’s University College Hospital. Asked how she was, the former taxi driver held up two bags of food and said: 'This is how serious it is — I’m bringing her some Kentucky Fried Chicken.' Amy’s spokesman Chris Goodman also claimed the collapse was as a result of medication problems. He said: 'She suffered a reaction to medication at home this evening and was taken to hospital this evening. Doctors have advised she will be kept under observation over night and is likely to be released on Tuesday.' A spokeswoman for the hospital said the 24-year-old was "bearing up well". The 'Rehab’ star was hospitalised last month with lung problems after collapsing at home.
Boy breaks canine tooth biting vicious dog

An 11-year-old boy is enjoying a flash of fame in Brazil after biting a pitbull that attacked him as he played in his uncle's back yard, local media reported on Thursday.
Gabriel Almeida, who lives on the outskirts of Belo Horizonte in the state of Minas Gerais, broke a canine tooth when he bit into the dog's neck to fend off an attack. Since then, he has been pampered in the studios of several TV stations, where he has been recounting his ordeal.
"I grabbed him by the neck and bit," he told O Globo newspaper. "It's no big deal. It's better to lose a tooth than to lose your life."
He was freed when bystanders pulled the dog off him and needed four stitches in his arm.

Angry, tired passengers make computers crash
Scores of Chinese air passengers smashed computers and desks and clashed with police Tuesday after a night stranded at an airport without accommodation, state media said.
More than 170 passengers were due to leave Kunming, capital of southwestern Yunnan province, on three flights operated by China Southern Airlines late Monday, but the flights were cancelled due to bad weather, Xinhua news agency said.
"All the passengers had to spend the night on the planes or in the departure hall," Xinhua said. "No one came to tend to their food and board."
The passengers clashed with airport police Tuesday morning, smashing computers and desks, Xinhua said, blaming the melee on China Southern staff's "inappropriate working attitude."
At around 2 a.m., many of the passengers -- including toddlers and people over 60 -- took taxis to a hotel where China Southern said they could stay, only to be turned away once they arrived, Xinhua said.
Frustration at mysterious delays, diversions and cancellations have at times boiled over into violence at Chinese airports as passengers try to storm grounded aircraft and police are brought in to keep the peace.
There have also been cases in which passengers, after delayed arrivals, have refused to get off the planes in protest.

Britney's 'sadomasochistic sex movie'

Britney Spears is reportedly in talks to star in a 'sadomasochistic sex movie'.
The troubled 26-year-old singer – who is currently recording her new album – is said to be in final negotiations to star in 'The Knoxville Carjacking Party’.The movie will focus on the true story of two students who were allegedly carjacked, kidnapped, raped and killed in the Tennessee city. Ghetto Bragging Rights gossip columnist Clarence Star, who broke the story, believes it could be the right career move for Britney, explaining: 'People need to see another side of Britney.' However, it is feared the mother-of-two will not be able to handle the 'intensity' of the disturbing sex scenes. A movie insider said: ''The Knoxville Carjacking Party’ has a lot of sadomasochistic sex scenes in it. While it’s thought Britney can handle any average sex scenes, these scenes have a lot of intensity in them. She would have to raise her performance level to endure some of these scenes.' In 2007, Channon Gail Christian, 21, and her 23-year-old friend Christopher Newsom are believed to have been murdered after being carjacked some time between January 6 and January 8. Britney is no stranger to the big screen. In 2002, she starred in teen movie 'Crossroads’. She was also in line for the role of Daisy Duke in 'The Dukes of Hazzard’ but the part was eventually taken by Britney’s pop rival Jessica Simpson

Emo and goth to be made illegal in Russia

The Russian government is in the process of drafting a law to make emo and goth music illegal.
Last month a parliamentary committee was convened to discuss a draft proposal of the Russian government's Government Strategy In The Sphere Of Spiritual And Ethical Education bill, the details of which were leaked to The Moscow Times. The newspaper subsequently reported that, among other things, the draft bill dubbed the musical movements a "dangerous teen trend" and called for emo and goth websites to be regulated and young people dressing like emos or goths to be banned from entering schools and government buildings.
The newspaper interviewed one of the bill's authors, Igor Ponkin from the Russian Interior Ministry's Public Oversight Council. Ponkin called emo a "social danger" and "a threat to national stability" and said the bill is a reaction to teen suicides such as the tragic death of British teenager Hannah Bond.
"This type of behaviour is a crucial part of emo ideology," said Ponkin. "Of course there are emo teens who just listen to their music. But our actions are not directed at them but rather at those who also hurt themselves, commit suicide and promote those acts."
The Moscow Times also interviewed psychologist Inna Cherkova who said:
"Suicide is not a symptom of emo culture. I work with other teens too, and every group has emotionally troubled kids."
However, the bill is expected to become law in Russia before the end of the year.
